Mainland Tours 2019

Where are we going?

We’re shaking things up in 2019!

Mainland tours are conducted annually on New Zealand’s South Island.

This year however, we’re operating two separate tours; NZ Mainland Wine Tour & NZ Mainland Burt Munro Tour.

Tour highlights include a combination of the best bike riding roads you will ever ride, fantastic scenery, comfortable accommodation and a range of festivals, motorcycle functions and museums.

NZ Mainland Wine Tour 2019

9 January – 24 January 2019

International guest artists TBA. Past events have included: Shania Twain, Lynyrd Skynyrd & Alanis Morissette. A spectacular day of wine and music.

Marlborough Wine Tour

A visit to a one of the famous Marlborough wineries.

Among the many other well worth while collections to look at the ChCh museum, it has on display permanently the “Ivan Major” collection which includes his golden Jawa that was presented to him when he won his 3rd world speedway title he went on to win 6 world speedway titles and 3 world long track titles and 15 world championship series.

While in Invercargill a visit to Hammer Hardware is a must, fill of a collection of Burt Munro’s and other bikes. See his original bike, one made for the movie “World’s Fastest Indian” plus the unique collection of “offerings to the god of speed” A unique collection of handmade pistons and other bike bits from Burt Munro’s collection.

Now open to the public, originally we had to arrange private tours to see this spectacle. A whole city block under cover with the most stunning collection of trucks, Kombis, model T, fuel pumps for the motoring enthusiast along with a wearable arts collection.

Classic Motorcycle Mecca (Over 300 Classic Motorcycles)

This world class display has bikes from 1902 – 2007 including 3 of John Britten’s bikes, an amazing collection like you have never seen before, originally housed in Nelson now in Invercargill.

TranzAlpine Train

One of the Great Journeys of New Zealand traveling from Christchurch to Greymouth return each day. We often end our tour with this incredibly scenic trip though mountains, past lakes and high country sheep stations. The breathtaking views and fully audio trip is a must do.

NZ Mainland Burt Munro Tour 2019

31 January – 15 February 2019
Burt Munro Challenge – www.burtmunrochallenge.co.nz

The 13th Burt Munro Challenge will be held from 7-10th February 2019, the largest motorcycle event in this part of the world, 6 motorcycle racing events in 4 day. Hill climb, Drag racing, Beach racing, Circuit races, Speedway and Street racing. Bands on Friday and Sat night. A must see event for those motorbike nuts.

Several other private collections throughout the country

Bert is always increasing his data base of private collections that are open to groups of enthusiasts. Although these displays are not open to the public entry can be achieved to small groups.
